What is Scalp folliculitis?

Scalp folliculitis is an irritation or inflammation of the hair follicle which is characterized by small, very itchy pustules.  The main area of this disease to occur is scalp but it may also occur in the area like acne necrotica miliaris’ or ‘Proprionibacterium’ folliculitis. It is common for both men and women at any age. ‘Acne necrotica miliaris’ or ‘Proprionibacterium’ folliculitis are the synonyms of Scalp folliculitis. It may cause to the boils and some time may responsible for serious skin infections.

Causes of Scalp folliculitis

The perfect cause is not defined but it may cause because of inflammation of hair follicle and micro organism. Some other factors like Bacteria, Yeasts (Malassezia species), Mites. Staphylococcus bacterium is responsible for the infection of eyes and nose. Diabetes, extreme sweating, tense clothing, exposure to cook and humidity, and other skin conditions are the other factors of which are causes to this disease.

Symptoms of Scalp folliculitis

• Fever
• boils or swollen ankles
• redness, swelling, warmth, or pain occurs when infection get spread.
• some other new symptoms may occur

Treatment of Scalp folliculitis

• Uses of some medicated shampoo which contains tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) oil, a great germicidal and antibacterial agent is helpful for the treatment of scalp folliculitis.
• Oral antibiotics like erythromycin i9s useful for the infection.
• antibiotics such as Bacitracin, Mycitracin, or Neomycin are useful for the bacterial folliculitis.
• Echinacea is helpful in changing the immune system.
• Use of Garlic (Allium sativum) and goldenseal is beneficial for the staph infection.

Risk Factors for Scalp folliculitis

• Diabetes
• Dermatitis and eczema
• tight clothing
• dirty and poor living
• exposure to hot
