4. The hairdresser will therefore use a special technique: using the scissors, he or she will cut vertically into the hair.
5. This final cut shows the hair spiked up with either water, hairspay or gel. The spiked hair gives the appearance of an inverted hairbrush, hence, the name brush cut.

1. Rub a blob of styling mousse the size of a pea on to the palm and rub it into the fringe.
2. Then slide both hands through the hair against the direction of growth.
