The duck ass was a haircut style fashionable during the 1950s. The hairdo was shaped by Philadelphia barber Joe Cirella in 1940 and took off when it was worn by television, movie and musical stars. It was also know as the Duck's Butt, Duck's Ass, or basically D.A. The actual name was Duck's Ass, but politeness called for the name Ducktail to be used in mixed company.
